TP 208: Grey

This week's theme immediately made me think of Melbourne, Australia.
I spent a grey 10 days there in October 2010.
It was early spring, and although we had some sunny days, most were not.

Head on over to Written Inc for some more grey pictures.

Have a sunny blue day today, everyone!

    1. Thank you Martin. It doesn't look so appealing in my hair, though...

  2. Such a beautiful depiction of Melbourne - which is often grey. I hope that blue skies and happiness are your lot at home.

    1. Thank you. I do love Melbourne, but you are right - it is often grey. This murky, moody day matched the spirit of that particular trip. I want to go back and see it through different eyes.

  3. Lovely photos, I particularly like the way you have taken the Shrine of Remembrance. But I do remember grey clouds like those!! We had them in the UK!

  4. Grey Harbor, I like it!

I guess I've got plenty of grey in my current post, now that I look at it sideways.

    1. There is a fair amount of grey there, whichever way you look at it! My husband is a golf fanatic, but he hates playing in the rain - are wet days good for golf for you?

  6. Even being a mostly grey trip, you certainly captured the beauty completely. Your second photo is amazing, with such direct points, giving us that look upward feel. Of course the ship is beyond words, and I was lucky to spot one on my last trip to California. Your post just goes to show how lovely a grey day can be!

    1. Melbourne can be very hot in the summer, but this day was as cold and as bleak as it looks. I loved the ship - in summer they take tourists out on it. Thank you for your kind comments:)

  7. The first two are amazing... those clouds look ominous an the DOP of the second one is dramatic....

    1. Thanks Chrissy! The clouds did eventually live up to that ominous look with some very heavy rain. I was pleased with the second one - thanks for commenting.

  8. I love this series, because even though Mother Nature painted the scenes with grey, you found a way to pull out the little bits of color wherever you went. I often hear from friends that I'm wasting my time shooting when it's cloudy. I look to pics like this as proof that even when the sky is covered, you can find beauty. Great work, as ever!

    1. Thank you Carmi. I was pleased with the red office block and the yellow ramp in the 5th one.

    2. That's one of the things I love about grey-tinged photos: they seem to pop that much more strongly when a little bit of color is introduced into them. It's not easy to expose for, but you've done so masterfully here.

    Well done.

    1. It was really cold - not beach-walking weather. Soon after I took this, rain happened...

  12. Too bad there wasn't more sunshine then, Alexia. We had similar weather in London this spring. Next January we are hoping for some good Melbourne weather.

  14. The red and yellow on the side of the Yarra River accentuate the greyness of the river especially as the shot follows that of the magnificent grey ship.
