Reflective: TP 379

Carmi's new Thematic Photographic topic is 'Reflective' (see here).

This time last year I was in Scotland, and I've been reflecting on how very much I would like to be back there, instead of here in month 3 of a southern hemisphere winter! (Although if I'm honest, it's about the same temperature here now as it was there last year...)

You've probably all seen the one of the colourful buildings in Tobermory, on Mull,
but having taken it myself makes it special:

More shots of the beautiful Scottish countryside. The first two were taken travelling
between Thurso and Skye, the other on Skye.

I'm glad it wasn't bright blue and sunny - that wouldn't have
been how I have always imagined Scotland.

And the photographer - being reflective.

  1. Oh my.
Simply sublime. I can well see why this area has claimed a piece of your heart. Love that final shot too.

  2. Beautiful, Alexia! Reminds me so much of when we camped on Skye, more years ago than I care to remember! The reflections on the lochs were so gorgeous!

  3. That first shot in Scotland with the colored houses reminds me of a place here in Canada called Lunenberg. It is in Nova Scotia and the waterfront has many colored houses much like these. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site. :-)

    1. I've just googled Lunenburg, and I see what you mean - the colours are similar, although the building styles are very different. I would love to visit Nova Scotia - I've been to Canada several times but never gone that far east.
      Thanks for visiting:)

  4. Alexia, these photos are just incredible. What a marvelous visit you had. The first photo is something very special for me too, although I've never seen them face to face, but they are beautiful. Your water reflections are excellent too.

  8. I was at uiversity in Scotland and can vouch for its beauty. Great shots, Alexia. I have fond memories of the view of Skye from across the water on the island of Raasay.

    1. Thanks, Bob. Such a beautiful country, and I was so happy to see the place where my father was born. I loved the islands and would jump at the chance to go to Shetland.
